Trained first as an organist, Basil Belmudes now dedicates his musical career to singing as a tenor. After completing his studies in Paris, he went on to study with Jean-François Rouchon and Stéphan Macleod at the Haute École de Musique of Lausanne.
He has performed as a chorister at the Châtelet Theater in Paris alongside Olivier Py and under the direction of Christophe Grapperon, as well as in various productions at Lausanne Opera since 2021. He sings in several ensembles, including the Parisian ensemble La Tempête, the Lausanne Ensemble Vocal, and Gli Angeli in Geneva under Michel Corboz and Stephan Macleod. Basil Belmudes also appears in one voice per part ensembles, such as the Sorelle Ensemble, with whom he regularly sings Italian madrigals.
As a soloist, Basil Belmudes is regularly heard in Mozart's repertoire, such as the Great Mass in C, but also in a variety of repertoires including Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, the music of Charpentier, Lully and Dvorak's Mass in D. His predilection for the music of Bach has led him to sing regularly in the St Matthew Passion, the Christmas Oratorio and numerous cantatas.
