Simon Lefebvre
Violoncelle baroque
Born into a family of musicians, Simon Lefebvre is part of the young Franco-Swiss generation of performers whose repertoire ranges from contemporary to early music.
After winning prizes at the conservatoires of Nantes and Paris, he entered Patrick Demenga's class at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, where he obtained a Master's degree with distinction. He then specialised in baroque cello and early music with Bruno Cocset at the Early Music Department of the Haute École de Musique de Genève.
He gives concerts on both modern and period instruments. He performs in Switzerland and throughout Europe with orchestras such as the Opéra National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, the Orchestre Royal de l'Opéra de Versailles, Gli Angeli Genève and the Lausanne Soloists alongside Renaud Capuçon. In chamber music, he has already shared the stage with Patrick Demenga, François Guye and Pavel Vernikov, among others, and performed under the direction of such luminaries as Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Simone Young and Philippe Herreweghe.
