Lena Spohn studied school music and philosophy and continued her vocal training in Stuttgart (Ulrike Sonntag), Leipzig (Carola Guber) and at the CNSMD Paris (Malcolm Walker). She graduated with distinction and complemented her studies by working with Hartmut Höll, Rita Dams, Anna Bonitatibus, Margreet Honig and Angelika Kirchschlager, among others. She is a scholarship holder of Yehudi Menuhin - Live music Now, the Fondation Royaumont, the state of Baden Württemberg and receives the Deutschlandstipendium. In 2018 she is a finalist of the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin, in 2019 a semi-finalist of the Haydn Competition in Rohrau and a prize-winner of the International Singing Competition of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg 2020. As a soloist she can be heard with the Freiburger- and Leipziger Oratorienchor, Kurrende Tübingen, the Figuralchor Stuttgart, as well as with Les talens lyriques under Christophe Rousset at the Festival de Royaumont. In 2021, she will be involved in a series of New Year’s concerts with the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra.
In opera, she appears in various roles at the European Church Music Festival in Schwäbisch-Gmünd, the Wilhelmatheater Stuttgart (Eduige), the Kammeroper Konstanz (Phèdre), the Theater Rudolstadt (Enrico), the Staufer Festspiele (Hänsel), the Ettlinger Schloßfestspiele (2. Dame), in the title role of Handel’s Giulio Cesare at the theatres of Dessau, Nordhausen, as well as in the ensemble’s guest production of Cosi facciamo directed by Martina Veh at the Cuvillés Theatre in Munich, among others. She is engaged as Rinaldo (G.F. Händel/ Rinaldo) with the Lautten Compagney under Wolfram Katschner at the Theater Wolfsburg and will be heard in 2021 as Cenerentola in Aschenputtel räumt auf at the Theater Koblenz and in a new production of the Junge Oper at the Opernfestspiele Heidenheim.
