Andrew Wong first discovered the wonders of historically informed performance through a period instrument recording of Haydn’s string quartets. He soon embarked on an expedition to rediscover the violin, learning from violinists such as Marc Destrubé and David Wilson and studying at the Berwick Academy of the Oregon Bach Festival and the American Bach Soloists Academy, as well as the Tafelmusik Winter Institute.

In 2019 he moved to The Hague, Netherlands to deepen his knowledge and immerse himself in the diversity of playing styles, learning from Enrico Gatti, Antoinette Lohmann, Ryo Terakado, and Kati Debretzeni while studying at the Royal Conservatory. He was selected for the 2019 Britten Pears Young Artists Programme with Philippe Herreweghe, the 2020 Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Experience Scheme, the 2020 Fondazione Giorgio Cini Seminar on Caldara Trio Sonatas with Amandine Beyer and the 2020 Akademie Versailles Lully Opera project where he served as concertmaster under Alexis Kossenko.

He has played with ensembles such as the American Bach Soloists, Nederlandse Bachvereniging and Vox Luminis (Purcell’s King Arthur, All of Bach), and Le Concert d’Apollon (Utrecht Early Music Festival) in the Netherlands.

Andrew has physics and engineering degrees from MIT and Stanford. He has worked professionally as a data visualization designer, specializing in map-making and building tools to understand complex data. His current interest is in applying information design to early music research.
