Overlooking Lake Geneva since the Bronze Age, the Château de Prangins was built in 1723 by the banker Louis Guiguer. This architectural gem has hosted illustrious figures, from Voltaire to Joseph Bonaparte. Throughout the centuries, it witnessed the detailed journals of Louis-François Guiguer and the generosity of philanthropists like Katharine McCormick.
Acquired by the Swiss Confederation in 1975, the estate now serves as the French-speaking headquarters of the Swiss National Museum. Following a meticulous restoration completed in 1998, the castle is now listed as a cultural property of national significance, providing a prestigious setting for arts and history.
