Martha Campbell

Irish violist Martha Campbell is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Garfield Jackson, Ashan Pillai and Annette Isserlis. She completed her undergraduate studies at the MTU Cork School of Music with Simon Aspell and with Professor Frank Strauch at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar through the Erasmus exchange programme.


Martha Campbell has been a prizewinner at a national level, and has performed in masterclasses with Bruno Giuranna, Nobuko Imai, Tatjana Masurenko among others.


An experienced chamber musician, Martha is a member of the Calathea Quartet, who are currently Fellows at the Royal College of Music. They have performed at West Cork Chamber Music Festival, toured New Zealand supported by Chamber Music New Zealand, and were Britten Pears Young Artists in 2022/23 and 2023/24.


Orchestral experiences include professional work with the Academy of Ancient Music, Irish Baroque Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, and working under conductors and directors such as Sir Mark Elder, Peter Whelan, or Laurence Cummings.
