Romain Favre

Biography

Swiss baritone Romain Favre completed his Master's degree in classical singing at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in 2023 in the class of Brigitte Balleys, having previously studied violin at the same institution. He has benefited from the guidance of Véronique Gens, Sandrine Piau and René Jacobs. Equally at home as a soloist and ensemble singer, he has performed at the Opéra de Lausanne, with Gli Angeli Genève and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, under the batons of Leonardo García-Alarcón, Christoph Rousset and René Jacobs. On stage, he has portrayed the Armchair and the Tree in L'Enfant et les Sortilèges with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Fiorello in The Barber of Seville, and the second bass solo in Mendelssohn's Paulus under García-Alarcón. A passionate chamber musician, he specialises in the German Lied and French Mélodie alongside pianist Jean Hiron, with whom he performs Winterreise and Dichterliebe in recital. In 2024, he was awarded the Swiss Prize at the Kattenburg Competition in Lausanne.
