Sara Ortega

Biography

Born in Asturias, Spain, in 1999, Sara Ortega is specialising in baroque cello with Bruno Cocset at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, after completing her studies in Madrid with María Martínez and refining her playing with Viola de Hoog, among others. An active chamber, orchestral and solo musician, she has performed at the International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada and the Tchaikovsky and Brahms festivals, and served for two years as principal cello of the ONCAM string orchestra in Madrid. She founded Voces del Barroco, a project bringing early music to rural areas, and is a member of the Lausanne-based Ensemble Hemera.
