Elvira Margarian

Biography

Armenian soprano Elvira Margarian began her musical education as a pianist before studying voice. She was a member of the Speransky Opera Studio at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, where she performed Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), and of the Yerevan Opera Studio at the Komitas State Conservatory, where she sang Zerlina (Don
Giovanni) and Adina in scenes from L’elisir d’amore.
From 2024 to 2026, she was a member of the International Opera Studio at Luzerner Theater, where she performed the roles of Sandman and Dew Fairy (Hänsel und Gretel), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Pamina and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), First Trio (Trouble in Tahiti), Laura (Luisa Miller), Gianetta
(L’elisir d’amore), and the Second Niece (Peter Grimes). In 2024, she performed as the soprano soloist in Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem at University Church, Oxford. Her repertoire includes Baroque works such as Zelenka’s Requiem, conducted by Jörg Halubek, and Die Liebe der Berenice, conducted by Andreas Spering and Giulio Denardo. Upcoming engagements in 2026/27: Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Proserpina in Kraus’s Proserpin, and the soprano solo in Beethoven’s Mass in C at KKL Luzern.
