Simon Lefebvre began playing the cello at the age of 6 with Claude Zanotti at the conservatory of Angers. After studying at the conservatories of Nantes and Paris, he entered the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in the class of Patrick Demenga where he obtained the concert master in 2020 and is currently pursuing his studies in a master’s degree in baroque cello pedagogy with Bruno Cocset at the early music department of the Haute École de Musique de Genève.
He has performed in groups such as the Lausanne soloists under the direction of Renaud Capuçon, the Orchestre national des Pays de la Loire or the Sinfonietta de Lausanne. His activities as an orchestral musician and chamber musician have also led him to play at the Festival de la Roque d’Anthéron, at the Salle Pleyel and at the Festival Éole en Musique.
He also trained in many academies with renowned professors such as Stefan Forck, Peter Bruns and Christoph Richter, among others. Simon Lefebvre plays on a cello by Ersen Aycan from 2011 as well as a bow by Denis Bergeron.
